For us, a new web design doesn’t start at the screen but in a conversation with the client. Only then does our design department draft the first layout. In this article we show in time-lapse how this works, how long the preparatory meeting for a small website takes and what role the first draft plays in the rest of the project.

Understand first, then design

Before a layout is created, we need to have understood the client’s needs. Together we decide how the website can best meet its visitors where they are, so that enquiries and leads (potential customers) follow.

For a small website, this meeting usually takes 2 to 3 hours. It is preceded by a first, no-obligation introductory meeting.

The first draft is a basis for discussion

The first layout is not the end result. It serves as the basis for further coordination, for new ideas and finally for the final layout. You can see what the path there looks like in the time-lapse.

If you are planning a new website, you will find more about our approach under Websites by Web Labels.
