Why a Shopware migration without a plan gets expensive

There is no update path from Shopware 5 to Shopware 6, because version 6 was developed from scratch. Plugins, theme and many settings have to be rebuilt. Anyone tackling the move without a plan risks incomplete data, broken links and lost rankings on Google.

What a well-planned Shopware migration does for you

  • Products, categories and customer data arrive complete in the new shop.
  • Old URLs redirect to the new pages via 301, so existing rankings are retained as far as possible.
  • You decide for each plugin whether it is replaced, redeveloped or no longer needed.
  • The old shop keeps running until the new one has been tested.

Scope of services

What we take on for your Shopware migration

  • System analysis

    Data, plugins, theme and integrations of the old shop.

  • Migration environment

    The move is prepared in a dedicated environment.

  • Data transfer

    Products, variants, categories, customers and old orders if required.

  • Replacing plugins

    We look for Shopware 6 replacements or develop new ones.

  • Design

    Carry over the existing design or create a new theme.

  • SEO and testing

    Redirects, meta data and tests of checkout and payment.

In a Shopware migration we move your online shop from Shopware 5, WooCommerce or another system to Shopware 6. We transfer products, categories and customer data in a dedicated migration environment, check every plugin for a replacement, rebuild the theme and redirect your old URLs via 301. The old shop keeps running until the new one has been tested.

public static function getSubscribedEvents(): array
{
    return [
        ProductPageLoadedEvent::class => 'onProductPage',
    ];
}

public function onProductPage(ProductPageLoadedEvent $event): void
{ /* add data without touching the core */ }
We build extensions as separate Shopware plugins so the shop stays update-safe.

From Shopware 5 to Shopware 6

Shopware 6 separates frontend and backend and has a much better API. This makes it easier to connect marketplaces, CRM and PIM systems, and translations and large data volumes are easier to handle. Some functions from Shopware 5 work differently in version 6. In such cases we adapt the data directly during the move instead of recreating old structures.

Shopware migration to Shopware 6 | Web Labels

Shopware migration from Shopware 5, WooCommerce or other systems to Shopware 6: data transfer, plugins, theme and SEO redirects by Web Labels.

This is how this page appears in search with its title and description. We write both ourselves for every page.

From WooCommerce to Shopware

When switching from WooCommerce, we export products with images, descriptions, prices and variants, plus customers and, if required, orders. We set up payment and shipping methods in Shopware from scratch. We carry over the design if you wish or create a new one. After the analysis you receive an effort estimate and a fixed-price quote.

Orders Integration Products, prices, stock
  • ERP
  • PIM
  • Marketplaces
  • CRM
Data flows automatically in both directions instead of being transferred by hand or in Excel.

After the move

A new shop is a good moment to tackle loading times and visibility. Find out more under Shopware performance and Shopware SEO. If the move depends on an inventory management system, data migration belongs in the plan too.

How your Shopware migration to Shopware 6 works

  1. Analysis

    We review product data, variants, customer groups, plugins and design and estimate the effort.

  2. Mapping

    Together we define which fields go where and which data needs adjusting.

  3. Migration

    In the migration environment we transfer the data, set up payment and shipping again and build the theme.

  4. Testing and launch

    After testing checkout, payment and redirects, we switch over.

Frequently asked questions about Shopware migration

All questions and answers
Can I simply update Shopware 5 to Shopware 6?

No. Shopware 6 is a new development with its own data structure, theme system and plugins. Switching is therefore a migration: the data is transferred, while theme and extensions are rebuilt.

Will I lose my Google rankings during the migration?

The risk can be reduced considerably. We carry over meta data and set up a 301 redirect from every old URL to the matching new page. Nobody can guarantee rankings when switching systems.

Are old orders transferred too?

Yes, if you wish. Besides products, categories and customers, historical orders can be transferred so that customers can see their order history in the new shop.
