Why data migration is more than a CSV export

When you change systems, the data is often the most demanding part. Fields have different names, variants are structured differently, and over the years duplicates and gaps have built up. A simple CSV export is not enough.

What a planned data migration gives you

  • You know before the import which data goes where.
  • Duplicates and faulty records are cleaned up beforehand.
  • Test imports reveal problems before the new system goes live.
  • URLs and meta data are carried over for Google as well.

Scope of services

What we handle in your data migration

  • Data review

    We check data sources and data quality before the move.

  • Field mapping

    Every field in the old system gets its place in the new one.

  • Cleansing

    We fix duplicates and gaps before the import.

  • Import in runs

    Via API, CSV or XML, with several trial runs if you wish.

  • Customers and orders

    If required, we also transfer historical orders.

  • Redirects

    Old URLs redirect to the new pages so that rankings are retained.

In a data migration we move product, customer and order data from your old system to Shopware, a new ERP or a custom application. Beforehand we define which fields belong where, clean up duplicates and test the import with real data. After the move, complete data is in place and old links redirect to the new pages.

Mapping before the first import

We export all relevant data and compare it with the target system: which fields exist there, which have to be merged or split, and which data is missing? The result is a mapping that you review before the first test import runs. When a shop moves, data migration is part of the migration to Shopware 6.

class SyncStock implements ShouldQueue
{
    public function handle(Erp $erp, Shop $shop): void
    {
        foreach ($erp->changedProducts() as $product) {
            $shop->setStock($product->number, $product->stock);
        }
    }
}
Our own code, cleanly documented and update-safe.

Several runs instead of a single cut-over date

We first import into a test environment, check samples and correct the mapping. Shortly before go-live, a final sync with the current data follows. If two systems need to stay in sync permanently afterwards, the migration becomes an integration.

How we work

How your data migration works with us

  1. Understand

    We look at your business, your systems and your figures before we suggest anything.

  2. Plan

    You receive a concept and a quote with individual items and a realistic schedule.

  3. Build

    We develop in stages. You see interim results on a test environment and approve them.

  4. Run

    After go-live we take care of hosting, updates and monitoring if you want us to.
