Why direct interfaces without middleware are hard to maintain

As shop, ERP, PIM and marketplaces grow together, more and more direct connections appear between the systems. If one of them fails or a data format changes, synchronisation stops, and often a customer is the first to notice.

What your own middleware gives you

  • Data formats are translated in one place.
  • Only changed data is transferred.
  • A failed record is logged and retried individually while everything else keeps running.
  • New systems can be connected without rebuilding existing connections.

Scope of services

What our API and middleware development covers

  • Data flow analysis

    We work out which data flows between which systems and how often.

  • REST APIs

    Custom APIs for your applications and for partners.

  • Push, pull and delta

    Depending on the case, we transfer immediately, at intervals or only the changes.

  • Errors and retries

    Failed transfers are logged and attempted again.

  • Documentation

    Every interface is described so that your team understands it.

  • Operation

    In our cloud-based middleware or in your own infrastructure.

In API and middleware development, we make sure your systems talk to each other. Middleware sits between shop, ERP, PIM and marketplaces, translates data formats, transfers only changed data and logs every operation. For your own applications we build REST APIs through which partners and other systems access your data in a controlled way.

class SyncStock implements ShouldQueue
{
    public function handle(Erp $erp, Shop $shop): void
    {
        foreach ($erp->changedProducts() as $product) {
            $shop->setStock($product->number, $product->stock);
        }
    }
}
Our own code, cleanly documented and update-safe.

Our own middleware

For marketplace and ERP projects we have developed cloud-based middleware to which we keep connecting further ERP systems, shop systems and marketplaces. Depending on the task, it works with push or pull, full sync or delta sync, and synchronises orders, statuses, stock levels and prices. How we use it for marketplaces is described under marketplace integration. Ready-made solutions on this basis already exist for the Fressnapf marketplace and the wholesale marketplaces Faire, Orderchamp and Ankorstore, each with product push, price sync, stock levels, order import and shipping status.

Isolate errors instead of stopping synchronisation

With large numbers of records, it is important that a single error does not halt the entire run. We build interfaces so that faulty jobs are detected, logged and processed separately. For individual connections without middleware, a custom integration is often enough.

How we work

How your middleware project runs with us

  1. Understand

    We look at your business, your systems and your figures before we suggest anything.

  2. Plan

    You receive a concept and a quote with individual items and a realistic schedule.

  3. Build

    We develop in stages. You see interim results on a test environment and approve them.

  4. Run

    After go-live we take care of hosting, updates and monitoring if you want us to.
