When a Laravel agency in Hamburg pays off for you

Many processes run through spreadsheets, emails and programs that do not talk to each other. Off-the-shelf software does not fit, and custom development seems risky. Anyone in Hamburg looking for developers for this wants a team that not only builds the application but also runs it and stays reachable when something changes.

What you gain from Laravel development near Hamburg

  • The application maps your processes instead of forcing your team to adapt to standard software.
  • Laravel is widely used and well documented. You are not tied to a niche solution that only one provider understands.
  • You see a working version with real data early on and have a say.
  • If you wish, development, hosting and updates come from one team in Bargteheide, close to Hamburg.

Laravel agency for Hamburg based in Bargteheide

Web Labels has existed since 2012, and today we have 19 employees. Many know us as a Shopware agency. Laravel development comes into play where a shop or a website is not enough: when customers need their own logins, when data from several systems comes together, or when a process currently lives in an Excel file that only one person truly understands.

From Bargteheide, Hamburg city centre is easy to reach via the A1. You are welcome to come to our office on the market square for a first conversation. By arrangement we also visit you in Hamburg, for example for a workshop with the people who will later work with the software. We usually handle ongoing coordination by video call, which saves both sides travel time.

Tech stack

  1. ApplicationShopware, Laravel or WordPress with theme and plugins
  2. Cache and searchRedis and Elasticsearch configured to fit
  3. PHPcurrent version with OPcache
  4. Serverour own servers with NVMe storage
We look at every layer, not just the theme: from the application through cache and search to the server.

Why we rely on Laravel

Laravel is one of the most widely used PHP frameworks. Login, roles and permissions, queues, email and interfaces are built in. So we do not have to reinvent these basics and can concentrate on what makes your application unique: your business logic.

For you, something else matters too. Laravel is open and well documented, and many developers know it. An application we build with Laravel can still be maintained and extended in a few years’ time without everything depending on a single provider. With a niche solution that only its developer knows, that is exactly what becomes difficult.

Then there is working with large volumes of data. Using queues and background processes, a Laravel application handles imports, synchronisations and reports without the interface slowing down for your team.

class SyncStock implements ShouldQueue
{
    public function handle(Erp $erp, Shop $shop): void
    {
        foreach ($erp->changedProducts() as $product) {
            $shop->setStock($product->number, $product->stock);
        }
    }
}
Our own code, cleanly documented and update-safe.

What we build with Laravel

Most of our Laravel projects fall into four groups. You will find more on each group on the linked pages.

  • Web apps and customer portals: customers and partners find invoices, delivery status, price lists or documents themselves instead of asking for them. With two-factor login if required.
  • Custom back ends: admin interfaces for orders, product data or approvals, with roles, permissions and a log of who changed what.
  • APIs and middleware: connections between shop, ERP, PIM and marketplaces that translate formats, transfer only changes and retry errors individually.
  • Product configurators: customers put together dimensions, material and accessories themselves and see the price straight away.

If your cloud ERP lacks a function, we add it via its API. What that looks like is shown on the page about ERP extensions.

AI in Laravel applications

Language models and AI search can be built into a Laravel application very well. We do this in our own products: Minofinder combines product search and advice in a chat, and KAI writes product copy with models from OpenAI. For client projects this means we know where AI shortens a process and where it only adds cost. For processes that an AI agent can take over, read more under process automation.

Laravel, Shopware or WordPress?

Not every project needs a dedicated application. For an online shop we use Shopware 6, and for company websites WordPress or Astro, which you will find under websites. We choose Laravel when your processes do not fit into any of these systems.

Often the systems complement each other. A customer portal fetches orders from the shop, a configurator writes to the Shopware basket, and middleware synchronises stock levels between shop and inventory management. Which systems we have already connected is listed in the ERP overview.

Example projects: Laravel software from our own operations

The best evidence of our Laravel development is the applications we run ourselves every day. There we see what happens after go-live: updates, load, errors, new requests.

ShopSignal

ShopSignal is our monitoring software for Shopware 6 shops, developed with Laravel. It monitors availability, servers, the message queue, error logs, SEO and revenue and sums everything up in a health score. A plugin is installed in each shop and sends signed data. If the score drops or revenue collapses, a notification is sent by email, Slack or webhook. Agencies see all their clients’ shops on a heatmap.

Minofinder

Minofinder is our AI search with product advisor for online shops, also developed with Laravel. The search finds products even with typos or customers’ own terms, and the chat only recommends items from the real catalogue. Minofinder runs as a plugin in Shopware 6, Shopware 5 and WooCommerce, and a dashboard shows which searches led to orders.

KAI (mitKai)

KAI writes product copy for entire categories from the data that is already available in the shop. We develop and run it together with tobias-schaefer.com on the basis of Laravel. KAI synchronises products from Shopware 6 or Shopify, the copy is created with language models from OpenAI, and translations run via OpenAI or DeepL. The texts go back into the shop or as a CSV file to ERP and PIM.

Our own time tracking

For our own team we have developed a time tracking tool with Laravel that we use ourselves every day.

Operation and hosting after go-live

An application is not finished at go-live. PHP and Laravel receive updates, security advisories appear, and new requirements arise in daily use. We continue to take care of all this. Our servers are located in Germany and tuned for Laravel; you will find details under hosting. If you prefer to stay with your own hosting provider, we set up the application there.

Laravel development in Hamburg: how we work together

It all starts with a conversation about your processes, not about technology. We then record roles, data and interfaces and estimate the effort. An early prototype shows the most important functions with your data. Only once it is clear that the idea holds up in daily use do we continue building in short iterations. Your contacts are based in Bargteheide and know your project. The easiest way to discuss a project is via our contact form. An overview of all services around the framework is given on the page about Laravel development.

How a Laravel project with us works

  1. Requirements

    We talk to the people who will work with the software and record processes, roles and data.

  2. Prototype

    A first working version shows the most important functions with real data before much budget is spent.

  3. Build-out

    The complete application is built in short iterations with automated tests and documentation.

  4. Operation

    We deploy the application to the server, monitor it and develop it further with you.

Frequently asked questions for our Laravel agency near Hamburg

All questions and answers
Why a Laravel agency from near Hamburg?

Because some questions are resolved faster at the table than by email. Our office is in Bargteheide on the A1 between Hamburg and Lübeck. You can visit us there, by arrangement we come to you in Hamburg, and we handle ongoing coordination by video call.

Which projects is Laravel suitable for?

For web applications with their own business logic: customer portals, internal admin tools, platforms, interfaces and middleware. Wherever data comes together from several sources and there is no off-the-shelf software for the process.

When are Shopware or WordPress the better choice?

For an online shop we use Shopware 6, for company websites WordPress or Astro. We use Laravel when a dedicated application is needed. Often both worlds work together, for example when a Laravel portal exchanges data with a Shopware shop.

How do you keep the risk of custom development low?

With a widely used framework, an early prototype with real data and short development iterations. You see every interim stage and can change course while changes are still cheap. We safeguard important processes with automated tests.

Can the application be connected to our ERP, shop or CRM?

As a rule, yes. We connect systems via their interfaces, transfer only changed data and log every run. For connections between many systems we use middleware, and for individual connections a custom interface is often enough.

Can AI be integrated into a Laravel application?

Yes. We already do this in our own Laravel products: Minofinder combines product search and AI advice in a chat, and KAI writes product copy with language models from OpenAI and translates via either OpenAI or DeepL. Whether AI adds value to your process is something we clarify together beforehand.

Where does the application run after go-live?

If you wish, on our own servers located in Germany, which we tune for Laravel, Shopware and WordPress. The application can just as well run with your hosting provider or in your own infrastructure.

How do you estimate the effort for a Laravel project?

Once we have mapped processes, user roles and data. Only then can we say reliably how large the application will be. You receive the estimate based on your requirements before development begins.
