ERP extensions: extend and automate cloud ERPs via API

We extend cloud-based ERPs through their API: enrich products automatically, automate processes and handle add-on or configurable products in the shop that the ERP cannot manage out of the box.

Where cloud ERPs reach their limits out of the box

Cloud ERPs offer a lot, but not everything an online shop needs. Add-on products, configurable products or product data that only comes together from several sources are often not covered by the standard. Then data is maintained by hand, and shop and ERP drift apart.

What an ERP extension gives you

  • The ERP remains the leading system, and the missing function is added as an extension.
  • Product data is enriched automatically instead of being maintained in the shop afterwards.
  • Add-on and configurable products work in the shop, even if the ERP does not know them in that form.
  • Recurring processes between shop and ERP run automatically.

Scope of services

What we take care of in ERP extensions

  • Analysis

We check what your ERP can do out of the box and where an extension is needed.

  • Extension via API

We implement new functions through the interface of the cloud ERP.

  • Product enrichment

Product data is completed automatically before it reaches the shop.

  • Configurable products

We map add-on and configurable products cleanly in the shop.

  • Automation

Recurring processes between shop and ERP run without manual work.

  • Operation

With logs and error handling, so that problems are spotted early.

Many retailers now work with a cloud-based ERP. These systems have an open API through which we extend them in a targeted way: with functions that are missing out of the box, with automations between shop and ERP, and with data that only comes together from several sources. Your ERP remains the leading system throughout.

Enrich products automatically

Products often arrive from the ERP with master data only. Descriptions, attributes, images or assignments are missing and are added by hand in the shop. An ERP extension fetches this data automatically from other sources, completes the products and writes the result to wherever it is needed.

Add-on and configurable products in the shop

Some products are only put together in the shop: from options, add-on products or configurations. If your ERP does not represent these combinations, the extension makes sure orders still arrive in the ERP complete and correct. If you need a dedicated configurator for this, read more under configurators.

Tech stack

  1. ApplicationShopware, Laravel or WordPress with theme and plugins
  2. Cache and searchRedis and Elasticsearch configured to fit
  3. PHPcurrent version with OPcache
  4. Serverour own servers with NVMe storage
We look at every layer, not just the theme: from the application through cache and search to the server.

Automate processes

Whatever regularly happens by hand between shop and ERP can usually be automated: setting statuses, transferring data, creating products or running checks. The extension runs in the background, logs every run and reports errors before your customers notice them. For connections between many systems we also build APIs and middleware.

How your ERP extension is built

  1. Clarify requirements

We look at which processes are handled manually today and what the ERP covers out of the box.

  2. Check the API

We check which data and actions the interface of your ERP provides.

  3. Develop and test

The extension is built in a test environment and checked with real products and orders.

  4. Go-live and operation

After go-live we monitor the runs and adapt the extension when processes change.

Frequently asked questions about ERP extensions

All questions and answers
What is an ERP extension?

A dedicated application or logic that uses your ERP's API to add functions the system does not offer out of the box. The ERP remains the leading system, and the extension reads and writes there via the interface.

Which ERPs is this possible for?

For cloud-based ERPs with an open API. Before we start, we check which data and actions your system's interface allows.

What are configurable products?

Products that are only put together from several options or add-on products. If your ERP cannot represent this combination, the extension ensures that shop and ERP still hold the same data.

Related services
  • APIs & middleware

REST APIs for your own applications and middleware between shop, ERP, PIM and marketplaces that translates formats, transfers only changes and logs every run.

  • Custom back ends

Admin interfaces for data and processes that do not fit into any standard system, with roles, change log and interfaces to shop and ERP.

  • Configurators

Product configurators with which customers put together dimensions, material and accessories themselves, see the price and order or send an enquiry.

  • Web apps & portals

Customer portals, dealer and partner portals and internal tools that run in the browser and access your existing systems.
