Why a basic product feed wastes potential in Google Shopping

Many shops send only the name, price and one image to Google. Categories do not fit, materials, bundles and additional images are missing, and the title does not contain what customers search for. On top of that come disapproved products in Merchant Center and, in the worst case, a suspended account.

What an optimised Google Shopping feed gives you

  • Titles and attributes contain the terms your customers search for.
  • Google and price comparison sites receive highlights, materials, bundles and additional images instead of just name and price.
  • Product categories are mapped cleanly, even if your shop structures them differently.
  • The feed updates automatically, and errors in Merchant Center are fixed.

Scope of services

What we take care of in feed optimisation

  • Feed preparation

Variables and dynamic queries get the most out of your product data.

  • Highlights and details

Product highlights, materials, bundles and additional images go into the feed.

  • Clean categories

Every product lands in the right Google product category.

  • Keywords in the feed

Titles and descriptions contain the terms people search for.

  • Merchant Center

Setup, linking to Google Ads and help with disapprovals.

  • Price comparison sites

The same optimised feed also supplies idealo and other portals.

For Google Shopping we prepare your product feed so that Google and price comparison sites receive all the information your product data can provide. We add highlights, map categories cleanly, include additional images, bundles and materials and optimise the keywords in the feed. On top of that we take care of Google Merchant Center and fix errors and account suspensions. The feed comes directly from your shop.

The feed is the ad

Shopping ads have no ad copy. Google builds the ad from the title, image, price and attributes in your feed. The more the feed reveals about a product, the more precisely Google can match it to relevant searches. That is why we prepare titles and attributes with feed rules, without changing the product data in the shop itself.

Structure comes before design: which content goes where, and where should the visitor click next?

Preparing feeds with variables and dynamic queries

Product data in a shop is rarely in the form Google needs. Using variables and dynamic queries, we assemble the feed fields from existing data: properties become attributes, shop categories are mapped to the right Google product category, and where information is missing, we add it according to fixed rules.

This brings information into the feed that would otherwise be lost: product highlights, materials, colours and sizes, additional images and the labelling of bundles. Google and price comparison sites receive far more than just name and price.

Keyword optimisation in the feed

The product title in the feed helps decide which searches a product appears for. We build titles to a fixed pattern of brand, product type and the attributes your customers actually search for, and add relevant terms to the description. The aim is better positioning for the searches that match your product range.

Merchant Center, campaigns and price comparison sites

The same feed powers free product listings on Google, Shopping campaigns in Google Ads and exports for price comparison sites such as idealo. Where several marketplaces are added, we plan this together with the marketplace integration.

How we work

How we optimise your Google Shopping feed

  1. Understand

We look at your business, your systems and your figures before we suggest anything.

  2. Plan

You receive a concept and a quote with individual items and a realistic schedule.

  3. Build

We develop in stages. You see interim results on a test environment and approve them.

  4. Run

After go-live we take care of hosting, updates and monitoring if you want us to.

Frequently asked questions about Google Shopping and product feeds

All questions and answers
What belongs in a good product feed?

Besides title, price, availability and image, above all everything that sets a product apart: brand, GTIN, material, colour, size, product highlights, additional images and the right Google product category. We mark bundles as bundles. The more complete the feed, the more precisely Google can match it to relevant searches.

Does feed optimisation change my product data in the shop?

No. The preparation happens in the feed using rules, variables and dynamic queries. Your product data in the shop stays as it is.

Why was my Merchant Center account suspended?

Common reasons are missing information on shipping, returns or the legal notice, prices or availability that do not match the website, or products that violate the policies. We review the notifications, fix the causes and support you through the re-review.

Do I need a plugin for the product feed?

Not always. Shopware can generate product exports itself, and we also connect feeds for Google or price comparison sites directly. A plugin is worthwhile when there are a great many rules or channels to maintain.
