As a web design agency that not only builds search-engine-optimised websites but also supports ongoing search engine optimisation, sooner or later backlinks become an important topic.
Anyone who has actively worked on SEO will have hit a wall with one keyword or long-tail keyword or another. You track your position on Google and simply can’t make the jump from page 2 to page 1.
When we reach this point, we review the on-page SEO quality, the local optimisation and the content of the landing page once more, and look for suitable backlinks for you.
What should I look out for when building backlinks?
What matters is high-quality backlinks. (Please don’t buy 100 backlinks for, say, €149.) Make sure the sites have a good OVI / Sistrix visibility index, look at the reputation of the links, and check how many inbound and outbound links the page has on which you want to place your backlink. It’s not just the number that counts, but also the quality and the balance between inbound and outbound links.
If these factors are right, finally look at the content. Is the content of the page in question aligned with yours, or does the website sell car parts while you sell children’s toys?
What does a good backlink look like in detail?
You now know the factors. But where does your backlink go and what happens to it? Well-organised website operators will offer to write an article or a dedicated landing page on your topic. Remember the classic “content is king”. So make sure the page not only fits your subject but also delivers content for you and builds a story around your backlink. A good landing page has a keyword density of 1 to 3%, at least 250 to 300 words and a text that matches the topic of your backlink. If you get content like this on a well-ranked website, you will quickly notice the increase in traffic and an improving Google position.
If all these factors fit, you can place a backlink with a clear conscience.
Depending on the size of your site and its existing traffic, we recommend not overdoing it. As with high-quality content, the rule for link building is “less is more”, at least most of the time.
