You ask yourself this question at the latest when you have neglected the subject of reviews for a long time. But sooner or later it happens: “the user from hell” lovingly slaps you with “1 star”, and your rating is gone unless you can make up for it with enough 4 and 5 star Google reviews.

So what can you do about a negative Google review?

With these tips you can offset bad Google reviews or even have them removed.

Caution! It isn’t always customers who leave reviews! We have experienced ourselves what it feels like to be reviewed by strangers who never had a second’s contact with our web agency.

So how should you proceed?

  1. Reply to the reviewer factually, explain the lack of any connection if that is the case and set the record straight. That way others can form their own opinion and look past the 1 star more easily!
  2. Then go to the reviews and report them as inappropriate, off-topic, offensive and so on, whichever fits best (and hope for a quick correction from Google)
  3. Collect positive reviews yourself! a. By actively asking your customers b. With flyers with a QR code for service providers! c. With a note in your email signature containing a ready-made review link d. By actively sharing and approaching your customers via SMS, email or social media

Help, I’m getting masses of negative Google reviews!

In that case, you should report every review, find out who the “source” is and, if possible, contact a lawyer who specialises in this area! If you have any questions yourself or need help, we look forward to hearing from you.

Remember: the internet is not a lawless space, and defamation is a criminal offence! Don’t just leave everything as it is!
